A new business philosophy and taking care of it

Taking Care of Business

Performed by. Bachman Turner Overdrive  written by  Randy Bachman

You get up every mornin’
From your. Alarm clock’s warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There’s a whistle up above and
People pushin’ people shovin’
And the girls who try to look pretty

And if your train’s  on time
You can get to work  on time
Start your slavin’ job  to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I’m self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day

Chorus
And I’ll be takin’ care of business  every day
Takin’ care of business.every way
Takin’ care of business  it’s all mine
Takin’ care of business and working overtime. Work out

If it were easy as fishin’
You could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second hand guitar
Chances are. You could go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows

People see you havin’ fun
Just. A lyin’ in the sun

Tell them that you like it. This way
It’s the work that we avoid
and we’re all self-employed
We love to work at nothin’ all day

Chorus
 Add in
Take good care  of my business. Every day when I’m away etc.

PHILOSOPHY

This  70’s classic rock tune seems  just as relavanttoday as it did four and a half decades ago.  In fact, it might seem. Even more so.  In today’s economy we have a  flood of people who have decided to  drop out of the. 9 to 5 existence  and go on their own or their. Employers have. Decided to make everyone part-time folks who need to supplement. Their income some how and that often includes a side hustle where a worker is their own boss.

I think it is telling, however, as the lyric says the business is all mine and then quickly follows up with the. Fact that it requires  working overtime.  The reality is  being self-employed often requires  working more than the traditional  hours of work or working when others are. Not in their  regular. Workplace.  Yes you may see an artist laying out in the sun or reading poetry, or drawing and you might think that is  not working...but that is  just not so.  Many. Things go into a creative process and are absolutely.critical for success.  The song also. Reminds  us that  “getting in  with the right bunch of felllos”. Is also.important thus telling you that even when you are self-employed relationship building is. Important and there is some  luck involved in really becoming. Famous which means you had better be pursuing  your work as a passion because sometimes the world we see you as goofing off when in fact. Folks don’t really understand  the work you are doing.

Having said that  it’s time for. Me to “Take Care of Some Business here because “it’s all mine”—lol

Rock On
