Moving from Black Friday to oh Black Water

A new way to look at Black Friday and every day take the perspective of the Doobie Brothers written by Tom Simmons I believe or Tim Simmons can’t remember for sure also note that I’m using this link without permission of the group so you will have to use the link not the embedded video sorry and click on it after you read that philosophy if you’re familiar with the song it’s a good song you can listen to it and then come back if you’d like as well

OH BLACK WATER

Philosophy
Unlike Black Friday this song celebrates the rhythm of nature and going with the flow understanding what is out there and excepting the best it has to offer either the cat fish jumping paddle wheel thumping the water rolling on and on and if it’s raining we’re going to take a street car uptown and dance all night long with the pretty mamas Man there’s no need to worry because we ain’t in no hurry that’s exactly the opposite of black Friday where we have to get this bargain or that bargain while supplies last or during certain sales hours at certain stores  I think we can learn a lot from Blackwater let it keep on rolling much like the events in our life we can let them keep on rolling and deal with them in the best way possible regardless of how things turn out be there right rainy or sunny we can find something good in the meaning of each experience so on Black Friday let’s look at the world more like the Doobie Brothers and enjoy it more like oh Blackwater
Pretty mama, come and take me by the hand
(By the hand) hand (take me by the hand) pretty mama
Gonna dance with your daddy all night long
I'd like to hear some funky Dixieland
Pretty mama, come and take me by the hand
By the hand, take me by the hand, pretty mama (I wanna honky-tonk, honky-tonk)
Gonna dance with your daddy night long (honky-tonk with you all long)
I'd like to hear some funky Dixieland
Pretty mama, come and take me by the hand
By the hand, take me by the hand, pretty mama (I wanna honky-tonk, honky-tonk)

Dipping into the Darkside Black Friday week and dipping into “black” Philosophy

Black (Sabath) Friday and  R&R Philosophy

In  a feeble attempt. To stem the expanding  tide of “Black Friday” week/ month I am going to highlight “Black” songs this week.  ToOh, and since a couple readers have re3marked that I’ve stayed a little on the “Mellow” side so far..let’s rip that scab off and go for “Black Sabath.”  Are  there harder and heavier  metal groups?  Yes, but Ozzy is no Barry Manilow I’d say.

So off we go into  the darkness..

Paranoid”—Written. By (all the members. Of ) kBlack Sabath according to  the liner notes...

finished with my woman ‘cause she couldn’t  help me with my mind
People think that I’minsane because I. Am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I’ll lose my mind if I don’t find some thing to pacify ...
Can you help me?  Occupy my  Brain?  Oh Yeah

I need someone if life to show me things that I can’t find
I can’t see things that make true happiness, I must be blind
Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel
And love to me is so unreal
And so as you hear  these words
Telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life
I wish I could but it’s too late.
Philosophy—

So you thought this was. Just someone  up there screaming/. Shocker Alert—so many “rockers” had social comments to make and that’s the case with. This  tune.
How many retailers and others. Strive to make you feel like you absolute3ly will miss out on the best deal of the year if “Black Friday” goes by without you melting your plastic to buy the latest.  ozzy tells us that he can’t. Find “things” that. Help his mind and it is true...things fall short and Black Friday sales are not about vacations or dinning out experiences, they aren’t about special family  days at sports or music events etc...  In short, they aren’t about  sharing the company. Of others, theses sales are about getting things you don’t have.
Well if you have to. Purchase.things try to get things that.others can use to create with.  get musical instruments or supplies, buy those special  paint brushes or food processing accessories.  Pick up some  quality fabric or cooking ingredients.  These items will not leave you feeling empty  once they go out of style....because theyrarely do.

The song also cries out. The. Message that people can only be happy “when”  or “if” they find the things at the end of the search...and do nbot recognize that. Peace, joy, and happiness can be the attitude of people while they go through life.

Black Sabath tells us to enjoy life as it goes and fears it is too late for them... I would argue. It is never to late... If you need proof..take a minute or. Two to watch any version of  the “Christmas Carol” (my favorite rendition is Bill Murray in “Scrooged.”
Anyway  let’s start off the “blac” week by applauding the insights in this song about  how things can lea e one wanting and life is to be enjoyed.

More “Black” tomorrow.

Drifting away and then toward peace and joy it’s part of my rock ‘n’ roll philosophy

Drift Away (most popular artist Dobi Gray

Day after day I’m more confused
Look for the light through the pouring rain
You know that’s a game I hate to lose
Feeling the strain
Ain’t it a shame

Chorus
Give me the beat boys and free. My soul I wanna get lost in your  rock and roll and drift away (repeat)

Beginning to think I’m wasting time
I don’t understand the things I do
The world outside looks so unkind
Now I’m. counting on you
To carry me through

Chorus

Bridge?...And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
when I’m feeling blue
Your guitar’s coming through to sooth me..
Thanks for the joy that you’ve given me
I want. You to know. I believe in your songs
Rhythm and rhyme and harmony
You’ve helped me a long
Making me strong

Chorus

Chorus

Philosophy

This song speaks to my very soul for the following. Reasons.

First it is about  music which makes it music about  music—how’s a music lover not going to. Be wrapped up in that?  It’s about  the powerful role  music  can and does play in one’s “attitudinal” and spiritual life.
Second it illustrates that music can. Do this whether. Our not you are currently happy or sad.

Third, it brings home the point that musicians intentionally try to communicate emotions.  These can be the emotions of the listener or emotions the writer wants the listener to empathize  or sympathize with.  In short it is a singular experience that  is at time shared by and  for others.
Lastly, it points out that life changes, moods, change, and no matter what music can be trusted to assist in a person’s transformational journey.
Oh yes and it is fun to.sing alone or with a group.

Okay this blog is going to drift away until Tuesday...but not as far away as Major Tom

What can we learn from one tin soldier?

ONE TIN SOLDIER-IS THE ZERO SUM GAME WINNER TAKE ALL OR. A LOSE-LOSE?

Look the  fans of  StoneTemple Pilots or Nirvana  would probably  claim this song is not “Rock & Roll.  If this blog has to enter a “definitional war about “what is Rock?” It will be boring quick and contentious  forever.  Thjat’s not the purpose here, so I’m simply saying that if I say it’s  included—then it’s  included.  Yes this might fit into the “folk” genre, but if you think I’m going to spend time. Typing the word genre very often well you are  sadly mistaken.  As far as I am concerned (The Stones) it’s only Rock and Roll , but I like it” so I’m offering to. The reader along with  its philosophical meaning for me.  So without much further ado”another one bites the dust.’
The Lyrics
One tin Soldier

Listen people to a story
That was written long ago
‘’Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley folks below

On the mountain  was a treasure
Hidden deep beneath the stone
And the valley people swore
They’d have it for their very own

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won’t be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day

On the bloody morning after
One Tin Soldier rides Away

So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure
Tons of gold for which they’d kill

Came the answer from the kingdom
With our brothers we will share
All the riches of the mountain
All the treasure buried there.

Now the valley cried with anger
Mount your horses draw your sword
And they killed the mountain people
So they wond their just reward

Now they stood before the treasure
On the mountain dark and red
Turned the stone and looked beneath it
“Peace on Earth” was all it said

Repeat Chorus
Go ahead and and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend....

—Philosophy—

first, there are  riches to be shared through sharing and many people are very willing to explore with others to see how creative and productive  life can be.  However, other folks would rather. Compete and eliminate all competing ideas as quickly  as possible so that they can monopolize  the market benefits regardless if that maximizes them.  The reason the internet is such a dynamic resource is that no one entity  has, as of now, monopolized every facet fo the netw2orking capacity of the internet.  Some entities have made  great strides in becoming a monopoly in parts of the social media, retail, and search/marketing realms, but no one has captured or controlled it all yet.  The key way to guard against. This is to continue to share and listen to new ideas and find new solutions to old problems and new problems to conquer.
Next—Will the valley people understand that they hurt themselves and did not  gain their intended. Goal or reach their target by destroying the  mountain kingdom?  In the song they did not learn that a zero sum idea “in order for me to win someone else has to lose” perspective has incredible flaws?

This is bullying at its  core and private3 sectors capitalism (not  free market capitalism)  and several areas of political  thinking are  currently infected with the zero sum mindset.

Let me put it  another way.
Let’s say I only have one bucket and one well that containseveral hundreds of bucket loads of water.  If I  only fill the bucket once then the well may as well only have one buckt’s worth of water in it.  However if Ishare  the water before the water in the well evaporates I can  fill the cups a of many and  get far more than a single bucket of water myself.  No water will be wasted. And no one will go thirsty.  Or I can. Drink a whole bucket of water and say “I’m good.”  The water left in the well will  disappear and everything. And everyone you thought you might control by owning the water...will disappear too.,

Among the people who died of thirst was  a little girl who. Knew.how to turn the sera into drinking water ten years from now or would have learned how...but No!!!

So my philosophy Is work together when possible and even sometimes when it seems impossible.  Share your best gifts freely in part and in whole.  Your bucket  will always be full.

Peace on Earth was ALL? It said
What  would any of us give for a little more peace most of the time?  Speaking of time... It ias time  to wrap this up

Turning toward the peace and joy the greatest cover song of a cover song I know

THIS COVER TUNE IS  EPIC...IT’S INSPIRED (even Biblical)  AND IT CAN LEAD TO  PEACE AND JOY

Every now and then you may  think...”didn’t I see that on another. Blog?”  Well yesterday I launched the “living the.... Rock n’ Roll philosophyBlog and this post appears there and here... why? Because I’m lazy?  No—efficient lol... and this fits in both places.

So over the past. Few years, life has taught me the lesson and the wisdom in  the notion that every dream has its time.  Sometimes that is hard to accept or believe, however, it seems to play itself out that way and there is a song that  nails this sentiment so well.

Now it would be  “correct” to note that  the version of the song that pops into my head is the  Byrds singing Turn, Turn, Turn.  The Byrds didn’t  write this song or falsely take credit.  Pete  Seeger “wrote it—well sort of... You can find it in the King James Bible, but King James didn’t write it either.  so we are left  with paying  Pete the royalties, however  the primary text is modified  pretty slightly. From  the Old Testiment Book of Ecclesiastes (more specifically Chapter 3 verses 1-8.  I was going to put a link to  the song below and most times I will, however there are so many versions done by so many artists  on YouTube that I’d just encourage you to  look it up and choose a performer you might be familiar with.

While your are at it go ahead and look up “medicine for the People and listen to tune titled “manifesto”. It also has  some biblical overtones and a great final verse.  I’ll quote that. Here (or as I hear it).

“Don’t  Wastes your Hate
Rather. Gather and Create
Be of Service
Be a sensible person
Use your  voice and don’t be nervous
You can do this you’ve  got purpose
Find your medicine and use it.

Okay... the big peace and joy take way. Is that events in life go up and down and drag you with them.  When you feel the movement, breathe and understand that  there is. Likely to be a balance point coming soon in life, if you are open to it.  Have faith in your spirit for it. Sill seek the balance you. Need and learn to accept it will show up in the  strangest ways and it too will have its season.

Now it’s time for me to. Turn, Turn, Turn, the  page on. My writing.calendar.  May it be your time  to gather stones together and dance soon Peace!

Rock ‘n’ roll is heavy man

I grew up or correct that I am growing up eating sleeping living and breathing rock ‘n’ roll lyrics and I suspect therefore according to a rock ‘n’ roll philosophy build on poetic lyrics and blues rhythms
This blog explores lyrics life philosophies and some of the weirdness that comes along in one’s life as we rock ‘n’ roll through it I will do my best to give credit to the folks who have written the lyrics that I include or mention the songs that I draw the lyrics from for now I want to say welcome and in the words of Dobie Gray it’s time to give me the beat boys and free my soul The real content starts tomorrow and as Bob Seger and the Silver bullet band reminds uss you can come back baby because rock ‘n’ roll never forgets more soon
